The 12 things before Christmas

The “12 things before Christmas” is an advent calendar with prompts that are inspired by my personal favourite things to do and featuring characters that were closely drawn from real people I’ve met on Prague metro.
In October 2025 I started sketching people interactions I spotted on the way to and from my Italian class once a week. To be honest it started as kind of a mental practice as an alternative to be glued to my phone while commuting. While most people on public transport were on their phones most of the time I started noticing brilliant moments of human connection filled with emotion.

„12 věcí před Vánoci“ je adventní kalendář s náměty inspirovanými mými oblíbenými aktivitami a postavami, které jsou věrně inspirovány skutečnými lidmi, jež jsem potkala v pražském metru.
V říjnu 2025 jsem začala jednou týdně skicovat interakce lidí, které jsem zahlédla cestou na hodinu italštiny a z ní. Začalo to jako mentální cvičení, alternativa k tomu, abych nebyla při dojíždění přilepená k telefonu. Zatímco většina lidí ve veřejné dopravě trávila většinu času na mobilu, začala jsem si všímat skvělých momentů lidského spojení plných emocí.

“In my creative career I have drawn at least a thousand snowflakes, a hundred Christmas trees and crowds of skating people for all kinds of projects from Christmas cards and packaging designs to a city wide campaign. This year I’m taking the liberty to draw things without which none of the above would ever suffice to have a proper Christmas: friendship, love, self-love, kindness and respect to one another.”
